Pizza lovers of Dunedin rejoice. Mamma Mia Pizza on Highgate has been one of Roslyn’s best-kept secrets since its doors opened back in 2009.

Serving up authentic Italian pizza from a traditional wood-fired oven, here you can expect fresh, hot pizza, ‘just like mamma used to make.’

The menu is small but sufficient and covers all the basics of authentic Italian pizza. You won’t find cranberry, chicken and brie or ham and pineapple options, but you will find flavours that wouldn’t look out of place in a pizzeria in Italy. Expect traditional flavours such as the Margherita with crushed tomato, fresh basil, mozzarella and olive oil, or the Puttanesca with anchovies, capers, olives, olive oil and crushed tomato.

The pizza is made fresh in front of you and there are no artificial flavours here. Mamma Mia uses locally sourced ingredients of the highest quality, all served on a thin, wood-fired crust.

There is onsite seating available, but we recommend getting your pizza to go and parking up in a spot that overlooks the city. Roslyn has some of the greatest views in all of Dunedin, best accompanied by a hot slice of what is arguably the finest pizza in Otago. Delizioso.
