5 Beach Road, Paekākāriki

04 902 9029

On the main street of the cute seaside township of Paekākāriki, you’ll find Beach Road Deli – a bright and beachy café offering great coffee and quality kai six days a week. The deli is an institution; it has stood in the same spot for nearly two decades. Post-pandemic, it gained new ownership and a bit of a revamp and has remained the local go-to.

It’s all about community and good vibes at Beach Road Deli.  Local customers are welcomed with open arms and treated like an extended whānau by the bubbly deli staff. All the staff are local Paekākāriki peeps, and the deli also likes to give young ones a chance to earn some pocket money and learn about the working world, which is a pretty nice thing to do. Weekends and sunny days bring in walkers, bikers and beach visitors from across the region, who’ll surely notice the amicable atmosphere as soon as they step in.

When it comes to kai, the Beach Road Deli offers an extensive bagel menu and a cabinet filled with in-house-made goodies. Throughout the week, the likes of hearty sandwiches, fresh salads, sweet treats and more await for you to fill up on, and on Friday nights, the pizza oven gets turned on, and the doors stay open until dinner time. You might be intrigued to know that the starter used for the pizza dough and house rolls is older than some of the staff! And if you happen to have a special do coming up that requires some quality grub, hit these guys up, as they do catering to top it all off.

In the business of providing people with good energy and good food, Beach Road Deli is focused on offering a wide variety of items available for various dietary needs, with vegan and gluten free options aplenty. A few retail shelves showcase speciality items that can be grabbed to fill your pantry at home, such as Hakanoa and Six Barrel Soda concentrates, quality pasta, speciality teas and some nice handmade pieces by local potters and makers from the next-door florist / gift store Honey Flower and Friends.
