Good days start with good coffee. While good coffee seems hard to find in the windy roads of Orakei, so far from the busy cafés of Ponsonby, a spot tucked in the block of shops on Coates Avenue has been fuelling this community with caffeine for over a number of years.

Serving Supreme coffee to its loyal following, the friendly staff are on a first name basis with many of the regulars, who pop in to fill their KeepCups on the way to work, pour over the newspaper with a fresh savoury scone, or pause for a brew while taking the dog on a morning walk. Founded by the former managers of the Dizengoff café in Ponsonby, they’ve bought their city experience to the ‘burbs, to continue building on their impeccable reputation.

This compact, sunny space has enough room for a small group, while remaining cosy enough that you don’t feel lonely when you’re drinking coffee by yourself. Brunch, cabinet food and plenty of parking; this is a valuable spot for those commuting between the bays on their way to the city, as cafés in this area are few and far between. With wifi, sunshine, friendly service and a range of delicious bites, we recommend throwing a sickie and sitting outside in the afternoon sun to finish off your work emails.
