Rocket isn’t really like anything else. Anyone that has stopped by their roastery on Barton Street for more than five minutes will know that. It’s been around for a long time, and they’ve cultivated a dedicated relationship with coffee farmers in Latin America and Africa, buying from single farmer or farmer-owned co-ops for fair prices.
In 2016 Rocket started supporting Food 4 Farmers' ‘Cafe Y Miel’ (Coffee and Honey) project, an initiative that sets up beehives for coffee farmers as extra income - it's great for the environment as well as the farmers, who often struggle with food security and making ends meet. 50 cents per kilogram of the coffee used in their seasonal espresso blend (aptly named ‘Honey Fingers’) is sent over to support the project.
The roastery is a great spot to escape the ‘Tron—there's free Wi-Fi and some good tables to work at and chat over. Sunny and industrial, the respite could well unravel your creative thoughts, leaving you refreshed and ready to face the world. Perfect for those who love the coffee process and the smells that come with it, you can even watch beans being roasted as you drink. They sell brewing and espresso equipment in the cafe, and the cabinet provides a few nibbly options to complement your coffee.
Rocket is always up to something new and is well known in the region for its delicious, high-quality products, with a heart for the people.
