The first shop to open down Leeds Street way back in 2000, the fame of Pizza Pomodoro can surely be seen as having prompted the renaissance of this hidden little street with a now abundant offering of eating and watering holes.
Direct from Naples, Pomodoro introduced to Wellington authentic Neapolitan pizza. The handmade pizzas are cooked on manuka, and combine both local and international ingredients (and nothing pre-mixed and nasty!). Mostly open for takeaways, there are two tables available for eating in, but don’t expect any knives and forks – it’s pizza from the box here. If space is short at Pomodoro, and if you want a drink with your pizza, in true good neighbours style, you’re able to take your Pomodoro pizza into nearby bar, Golding’s Free Dive – a collaboration we like very much indeed.
