In 2015, brothers Tim and Luke started building a food truck in their mum and dad’s back yard. With a passion for plant-based, ethical food, and with the inspiration of some extremely wise girls, WB set out to make the first dedicated vegan fast food joint in New Zealand. Since then, these North Shore wheeler-dealers have travelled far and wide selling vegan burgers to the hungry people of Auckland and beyond.
Found each week at music festivals, markets, private functions and food expos, they now employ a large number of burger flippers to meet the demands of their growing following, sometimes selling over 100 burgers an hour. And as growing numbers of people look for tasty food options that also reduce their intake of animal products, it’s looking like these Shore boys are a sure thing.
Their rotating menu currently features the 'Moroccan', 'Kiwi' and 'Spicy Mex’ - as well as a revolutionary “pulled-not-pork” BBQ Jackfruit burger that has quickly become a crowd favourite and will change the way you think about barbecue. Add a side of chips and some famous Wise Boys vegan aioli and you’ve got yourself a meal fit for a gypsy king.
Wise Boys have teamed up for a range of events with people like the Midnight Baker, Organic Mechanic and Malcolm Rands from ecostore and are always looking to collaborate with other sustainable enterprises. If you're lucky you may be able to convince them to part with a jar of their vegan aioli, which they hope to have in stores by the end of the year. Check out their Facebook or Instagram to find out when the burger shack will be near you soon!
