Scratch the surface of Christchurch nightlife and you’ll find a thriving underground electronic music scene which dates back over 30 years. Paying homage to spaces lost during the Christchurch earthquakes and intimate European clubs, Hide is the city’s only purpose built nightclub.

As the name suggests, Hide is an all-inclusive space to hide, seek and dance which embraces and supports the multi-cultural and LGBTQ scenes that created electronic music in the first place. Hide hosts internally curated and externally promoted events featuring local, national and international artists.

Owners, Mitch Ryder and Sam Smith, created Hide to fill a void they saw in the city post earthquake. They recognised that the new generation of electronic music lovers didn’t have a point of reference for what a nightclub truly is within Christchurch. In response, they created a space void of dress-codes and other stuffy norms that they hope will be an institution for safe dancing and electronic music for years to come.

Musically, expect to hear drum & bass, house, techno, dubstep -- any and all facets of the electronic music spectrum -- on the in-house l-acoustics rig or via a host of guest sound systems. Hide is a true nightclub right in the heart of our CBD. Follow their social channels for updates on future shows or simply rock up and experience what Christchurch’s notoriously strong music scene has to offer.
