What started with a humble bacon sandwich five years ago, has lead to incredible success for the three brothers behind the famous Bacon Brothers brand. Starting small at the Christchurch Farmers’ Market, they quickly built a reputation for damn good sandwiches and a loyal following amongst their customers. So, it only seemed right that they expanded their bacon empire, and in 2017 they set up shop at The Little High Eatery on High Street.

They’ve remained as popular as ever, with a near constant line of hungry customers, and yet they’ve also remained true to their humble roots. You’ll still find them every Saturday at the Christchurch Farmers’ Market, crediting the market goers and producers as part of their success. They continue to source most of their produce from the market, regardless of the extra cost involved, using free range eggs and bacon and handmade bread in their burgers.

With an extensive menu that caters for all dietary choices, there’s a burger to suit everyone. You’ll see plenty of unusual names for the menu items such as ‘Andy the Electrician’ and ‘Zac the Builder’. The reason? They’re named after people who have influenced their business and helped them get to where they are today. There are over 18 different burgers to choose from, and for vegans and vegetarians, they’ve sourced coconut bacon so no one has to miss out on the classic ingredient. And it’s not just burgers. Their deep fried cauliflower is famous in its own right, and their hand cut fries completes the perfect pairing.

Above all else, for Bacon Brothers it’s about more than just making food. They’ve stated that their main objective is to make people smile, and no matter how busy they are, there’s always time for the ‘free hugs that come with the ‘Happy Burger’. They also don’t charge extra for gluten free or dairy free substitutes in any of their burgers.

There’s a reason why Bacon Brothers have got such a loyal following, and it’s more than just their tasty burgers; you get a sense that they’re genuine and honest in what they do, putting customers first and remaining true to themselves - and the proof is in the bacon.
