Housed in a stylish industrial building with exposed high ceilings and plenty of space for eager diners, this neighbourhood favourite is a friendly and welcoming spot buzzing with good people, good food and good vibes.

Black Betty does not muck around when it comes to coffee. Part of the much-loved Switch Espresso family, Black Betty knows how to do coffee and do it well. Visitors can choose their brewing method from syphon, pour-over, aero-press, cold-drip and espresso. This commitment to curated caffeine is thanks to Black Betty’s owner Hamish Evans who is passionate about all things coffee and who’s overseas coffee experiences sparked an interest in him to explore alternative brewing methods to the ever-popular espresso.

The food menu here is just as well thought out and enticing as the coffee. Breakfast and brunch diners are spoilt for choice at Black Betty. The menu here is brimming with sophisticated yet approachable dishes such as French Toast Crumpets (!), Betty’s Bacon Buttie, waffles (both sweet and savoury) and next level Brekkie Tacos. The cabinet food options are extremely appealing here too with a range of sandwiches, heat and eat options and irresistible sweet treats.

Plenty of space, a kids area and even a private meeting room available for hire add to the charm here and make it no surprise Black Betty is packed full of Ara students during weekdays and eager brunch-goers on weekends. Black Betty makes the “where shall we meet?” question very easy to answer and will fast become a favourite for any first time visitors.
