Housed within an old glass factory on the industrial side of Sydenham, Junk & Disorderly is a destination in itself. A truly unique shop where the old meets the new, stepping into this kingdom of treasures is like taking a kid to a candy store. Vintage industrial lamp shades dangle from the ceiling along with hanging pot plants, antique tables heave with collectables to be discovered, pre-loved toys patiently wait for a new home and mismatched chairs, rugs and bric a brac along with new and old tableware sit in perfect harmony together.

Junk & Disorderly first opened in Auckland in the early 90s when owners Nicole & Richard Stewart turned their love of vintage into a career. They gather the stores offerings from a number of sources and carefully select those that fit into their concept. Despite what its name may imply, this is by no means a store that is filled with junk, and the disorderly side of it is very intentional– there is constant curating going on behind the scenes and each piece has its very own place within the store.

The stock here is constantly changing, so don’t be fooled into thinking you can come back to that perfect lampshade next time you’re in store. The upside to this is that there’s always something new to discover.

Whether you’re after something specific or just love to search for unusual pieces for your home, this is the place to visit. Keep an eye out also for markets, exhibitions and other events held under the Junk & Disorderly umbrella.
