Peek through the window of No. 6 New Regent Street, and you’ll soon find yourself the mesmerised audience of an evolving botanical performance set against a striking tangerine backdrop. Alicia Ercerg is the artist behind these creative and unconventional displays of nature. She set up the Bunch Floral studio down Christchurch’s pastel neighbourhood at the very end of 2018.

Alicia first established her brand in 2017, after a stint in a local florist confirmed that a life with flowers was, in her opinion, a life well spent. Through word of mouth and a growing social media following, Alicia’s inbox was soon full of orders from brides to be, event producers and local businesses wanting to make a statement with a one-off floral installation (O.G.B, Dorset Street and Lulu Lemon to name a few).

Looking for a conservative florist retailer? Want a perfectly symmetrical arch of white roses? Perhaps you’d like an exact replica of your friend’s cousin’s wedding bouquet? Please enquire elsewhere. Floristry is done differently at Bunch. You pick the mood, occasion and value – then leave it up to Alicia to go out and buy fresh from the source to deliver something truly unique (trust us, you’ll be glad you did). All bunches are made to order by simply picking up the phone or heading to the website, with just 24 hours notice needed.

The simple one-room studio is inspired by the enchanting and untamed flower shops Alicia stumbled upon in her travels around Europe. She’d watch the florists work their magic not behind closed doors, but out in the shop front. Bunch too offers this unfiltered view into the work that goes into each one-of-a-kind piece.

The main worktop is an ever-changing display of what fresh and seasonal flowers are available at Wigram’s early morning flower market. It’s here Alicia sources alternative and interesting varieties from the plastic-free trollies of small independent growers. Dahlias, Hydrangeas and Sea Holly to Gypsophila, Sweet Peas and Zinnia are just a taste of what is used to set a Bunch creation apart from the rest.

If you find the studio door open, pop in and strike up a conversation with Alicia. For those after a more formal meeting, private appointments can be made through email.
