Returning from over 20 years living the corporate life overseas, Larissa (ex-lawyer) and Andrew Hamilton (ex-banker) have set up their furniture and homewares store in Victoria Street, displaying everything from antique Javanese food preparation bowls and wooden chandeliers, to wall art and carved water buffalo heads.

For over eight years, Larissa and Andrew were based in South East Asia, including Hong Kong, Singapore and Bali, where they became aware of the value and beauty of handmade products from these countries. Once they returned home to Christchurch permanently, they started gathering ideas for their own store, and by incorporating South East Asian and Nordic-style furniture and homewares, have come up with something truly unique to Christchurch.

Everything you lay your eyes on at Corvocado is made from sustainable materials and has been handcrafted by the 36 local and international makers, creators and artisans who Larissa and Andrew have personal relationships with. They see beauty in the perfectly imperfect feel of handcrafted furniture and products. By cutting out the middleman (wholesalers) Larissa and Andrew can also offer their furniture and products at a really great price, and their direct relationships mean they can collaborate with their providers to design specific pieces unique to Corcovado.

You’re bound to find something to covet at Corcovado to add colour, texture and a little international flair to your home.
