Shop 19, The BNZ Centre, 111 Cashel St
Nestled down a laneway in the central city BNZ Centre lies one of the most authentic gift stores in Ōtautahi. Showcasing a carefully curated selection of local design (with the exception of a few international items that have made the cut), HAPA is your one stop gift shop for any occasion.
Step inside and you’ll instantly feel welcomed by the beautiful and inviting store. The light streaming in from the floor to ceiling windows, beautifully crafted shop fittings and carefully placed unique items will awaken your curiosity and draw you in to discover all that HAPA has to offer.
Here you’ll find traditional pounamu pendants next to contemporary jewellery and handcrafted brooches, an impressive selection of art prints, quirky and cute children’s toys nestled alongside books and skin care products along with an exciting number of goods of all kinds that celebrate and promote Te Reo Māori.
With a focus on local design and items where the handprint of the maker is visible, HAPA supports numerous New Zealand creatives, not only by stocking their products, but also by helping them find ways to work better, not harder.
Treading lightly on this earth is also of great importance at HAPA. On top of working with makers as close to home as possible, the store uses 100% recyclable and biodegradable gift wrap made of wood pulp, paper tape and even the aforementioned shop fittings are made of bamboo by local cabinet makers Frontal Lobe, with a strong focus on sustainable design.
By supporting HAPA you’re not only backing up a local business, but an entire network of local small-scale makers of goods, some of which only supply this very store.
