From the moment you walk through the upstairs corridor of The Crossing and spot the luxurious, modern entrance of the IHF Health Club, one thing becomes quite clear:  you’ve never been to a gym quite like this before.

Your first impressions will be confirmed as you round the corner to the elegant Members Lounge, where you’ll find a complimentary snack and beverage bar that boasts tea and coffee making facilities plus a range of beverages and snacks, available 24/7 as a quick refuel before or after a workout. You’ll also be able to hunker down at Elements, their on-site café, to fuel up on healthy and satisfying lunch bowls, wraps and classic favourites like eggs on toast, from 6:30am until 8pm.

The workout area continues to exceed expectations, with great views looking out onto the action of Cashel St (perfect for people watching on the treadmill), as well as a generous space for machines and free weights. The historic charm of the building has been retained, which makes seeing industrial equipment juxtaposing ornate architectural features one of the unique elements of joining this exclusive club.

Of course, a health club like this doesn’t just have state-of-the art weights and cardio machines. You can also meander down the hallway to a high-tech PRAMA group fitness room, with circuit-style training. The room has LED lighting in the floor for an ultra-stimulating workout experience, and the classes consist of 45 minutes of speed, strength, mobility, stamina and cognitive function combined. Next door is the serene yoga studio, which offers four levels of classes to suit you at any stage of your yoga journey.

And finally, after you’ve had a killer workout and feel rejuvenated from your freshly blended smoothie, it’s time to head to the locker rooms, but, in keeping with the general theme at IHF, these aren’t like any gym locker rooms you’ve seen before. The rows of marble showers (stocked with essentials like shampoo and body wash), will lead you to a 10 degree plunge pool and sauna room, designed for hot/cold therapy, and the gorgeous vanities tucked behind the locker room area, have Dyson hair dryers and straighteners.

All in all, we would say the days of dragging yourself to the gym are long gone.
