There’s nothing that gets the creative mind going quite as much as simply being around other creative folks who have their own big dreams and plans, so if freelancing in an upstairs green oasis on Hamilton’s main street is your idea of a neat co-working space, then social enterprise Creators may just be the space for you. Existing to let Hamilton locals flex their creative streak in a safe and supportive place was important to the crew that started this place, and walking in here whether you’re a stranger or a friend feels exactly the same - the kind folks working here are welcoming and warm. Realising that the inner artist in many locals was being suppressed, Creators set out to re-establish the idea that everyone depends on creativity, no matter your job or industry, and without it a city would feel bland and lifeless.
Perch at the bench seats, grab the hui room for your meetings where you can pour over plans on the big table, or book in the studio if your creativity needs a bit more space. Pastel green walls and greenery aplenty adds to the feeling that you’ve found a peaceful home away from home, and the cute hideaway kitchen on site is a perfect little spot to catch up with the other co-workers over a coffee in the mornings. Hints of retro are everywhere here - evidence that second-hand and well-loved items are of just as much value as new to these folks.
Basing themselves on the Maori values of manaakitanga, kounga, whangai and whanaungatanga means Creators is focused on sustaining a beautifully presented space that embodies a sense of belonging, inclusiveness, and hospitality.
