“Unattended children will be given a budgie and a short black” is the policy at Demi-Urgos, where quality coffee with a quality experience is the primary focus. This cosy cafe on the end of Victoria Street has fostered a loyal band of followers with it’s quirky sense of humour and it’s die-hard passion for coffee.

Proudly serving Supreme, there are a number of smoothies and caffeinated concoctions available, as well as a cabinet full of raw slices, bliss balls, scones and sandwiches to eat in or take away. Demi-Urgos aspires to be your lounge away from home, with a warm atmosphere that is a pleasure to hang out in.

Sit down with the barista and have a good yarn about Greek philosophy or Kendrik Lamar’s new album (apparently “his rhymes are carrying the melody”), take in the range of Star Wars nick nacks or rummage through the books and magazines tucked in corners and on shelves.

So comfortable is the community surrounding this spot on the far end of Victoria Street, some of the regulars even come in a bit earlier in the mornings and help set up the furniture. Parking is cheap and easy- there are usually spaces right outside- and there are a number of wee tables at the front to sit with your coffee and enjoy the morning sunshine. So join the loyal band of followers and come by Demi-Urgos for your daily fix of smiles, sunshine and caffeine.
