The pastel interior and pint-sized tables at Duck Island will leave small humans in no doubt that they’ve just stumbled across the ice cream shop of their dreams. Luckily enough, bigger humans are equally enamored with the place, meaning a family outing here is sure to please all.
Starting as an option on the dessert menu at Chim Choo Ree some years back, Duck Island has since had an explosion in fame and following as people from all over the region come to line up at the counter and lick the specialty ice creams from cone to crumb. The flavours are a welcome change from the usual suspects in the supermarket chiller, with salted caramel and cacao crumb, orange blossom chocolate chip and strawberry, coconut and kaffir lime on offer.  When they are not using organic milk, they are using coconut milk, meaning even the vegan eaters in the group can dine here cruelty free. Free range eggs and seasonal ingredients – Duck Island revolves around what Mother Nature is currently producing, and keeping it real means there is no addition of ingredients that are not essential.
Favouring wooden tasting spoons (or good old metal ones if you’re sitting in) to plastic, and handing over their sweet treats in commercially compostable packaging, means it is clear to see Duck Island has a green heart. Grab a float, sundae or a crowd favourite waffle cone and top your already fab flavours with some house made crumb or praline.
