Hidden in plain sight on Kaikōura's main drag is Bok’s Yellow Food Truck. If you're a regular to or through Kaikōura, you may have noticed people huddling around this little treasure waiting for its epic Asian fusion eats, like crispy chicken mee goreng, crispy chicken roll and beef rendang tacos.

The tiny trailer has been serving locals and visitors since 2020, with owner and operator Janet Tan taking the reins more recently. Using her 15-plus years of chef experience, Janet makes most items from scratch, and for those that aren't, she goes the extra mile to source from the best, as proven by the regular drive to Christchurch to source freshly made egg noodles. Another fan favourite must try is the coconut rice, a self described signature dish. The menu also changes depending on the season.

Open for lunch and dinner with friendly service, value for money and a quick turnaround for your favourite pick, means there's always customers coming and going, or sitting and enjoying delicious eats at one of the handful of outdoor tables with an ocean mural view.
