One of the latest additions to Timaru’s café scene, The Yellow Door at the high end of Stafford Street is hard to miss. Just keep an eye out for splashes of that sun-shiny colour, which appears on outdoor seats, along the front of the building and, of course, on the door, and you’ll be sure to end up in the right place.
Owned and operated by local Timaru chef Jason Russel, who's counted owning his own business as a long-term dream. The offerings at The Yellow Door are bound to delight, with an extensive breakfast and lunch menu with a multitude of options that cater for all dietary needs, all created with ingenuity and utmost care.
Expect dishes that are not your stock standard café fare, with Smokey Beef Burger Bowl and Sushi Bowl, a couple of the dishes to be sampled here. And if you’re not feeling all that adventurous, fear not, as you’ll also be able to find staples like filled bagels or a bowl of chips on the menu. Smoothies and milkshakes are popular at The Yellow Door too, as is expertly made coffee.
Weekly specials keep regular visitors discovering new choices and the entire menu changes along with the seasons. All dishes served here are made here, with a focus on quality and freshness.
The light and bright interior of The Yellow Door offers a calming backdrop for your daily coffee, and the outside seating on Timaru’s main street is a perfect people-watching spot.
