After previously working in other barber shops in town, owner Niko found himself dissatisfied with having to rush through appointments with his clients. As a tireless go-getter, he decided to take matters into his own hands and devised a plan to open his own shop.
You can certainly see that there’s no need to rush in and out here, and that the team aspires to make getting a haircut less of an errand and more of an experience. The full-blown DJ set up parked by the front door creates a vibrant atmosphere that’s unlike any other barber in town. After all, how many other barber shops can say that they have their own weekly radio show on TrashFM? (If you’re curious, you can usually find a sneak peek of the action over on their Facebook or Instagram page.) On a slightly more low-key note, you may also spot a game of chess happening in the waiting area—just another way that the shop invites you to relax and enjoy yourself.
While the first iteration of Georgetown Barbers was perched just across the street, the light-filled and industrial interior of the current shop is the perfect, inviting backdrop. A quick walk through the space reveals clients from all over the city in just about every age bracket - further proof that the results and the vibe are worth travelling for. In addition to standard men’s cuts and fades, you can also book in a beard trim, or a quick cut for the kiddos, as they have special rates if you’re under 15-years-old.
