If a lack of healthy options from food trucks have you feeling frustrated, it’s time to waltz right up to Elemental Eats and fill your belly on some good quality food instead. Born from a desire to create easy takeaway food that was nutritious to boot, Elijah (with help from his mum Helana) set about creating a menu that would feed people in a more wholesome way than was currently on offer. A paleo eater himself, Elijah has put plenty of creative effort into making sure meals here are as good to eat as they are to look at.
You can rest easy if gluten, dairy or refined sugar aren’t your thing, because the whole menu is free from all three. Be sure to try one of the infamous ‘kumara crusters’ - not your average pie, these are filled with steaming hot fillings (chicken, pork or vegan) and the crust is made entirely from caramelised kumara. The free-range fried chicken is a popular choice too, or if it’s something sweet you’re after the truck also offers churros with date caramel sauce. Plimmerton Kombucha is a nice switch up from the usual sugary options typically seen in food trucks, and as an added bonus the little company brews right next door to the commercial kitchen used by Elemental Eats.
Events and catering is the name of the game for this ambitious food truck, and not tied to any set location (the perks of having a kitchen on wheels) means you’ll need to keep an eye on their social media to see where they’ll be set up next.
