Louis by Louis Sergeant

Open Tuesday - Saturday

20 Parumoana Street, Porirua

A household name in Wellington for as long as anyone can remember, the Louis Sergeant brand continues to make its presence felt across the region. In Porirua, its artisan food trailer ensures locals don’t have to travel far for an authentic slice of France.

Located on busy Parumoana Street, Louis by Louis Sergeant stands out from the crowds largely through its sheer simplicity. The classy white caravan generates plenty of retro vibes with minimal fuss. The bold red coffee machine on one end complements the lettering on the signage above, while on the other side, clear cabinets draw customers in with the lure of freshly baked goods.

For a modest-sized trailer, it boasts a range to rival that of many larger bakeries, with shoppers treated to everything from bakery essentials to sandwiches and the delectable desserts that made Louis Sergeant famous. Without a doubt, Louis’s signature items - macarons and almond croissants - are still the most popular, and are usually snapped up in no time. The croissants come in all shapes and sizes (you can get vegan ones too), and you can even grab a baguette stick or two to go.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re in the sweet or savoury camp, as both parties are well looked after here. The pain au chocolat, cinnamon swirl or maple and pecan Danish are the perfect treat after a hard day of shopping. Or if you’re looking for something a bit more substantial to start the day, grab a ham and cheese croissant, panini or croque monsieur.

With its handy location in the heart of the Porirua city centre, Louis by Louis Sergeant is definitely worth stopping by as you explore all that this region has to offer.
