Tucked away in Miramar, a stone’s throw from Wellington Airport, Provisions is a boutique store that keeps local businesses flying. Run by the same folks behind Peoples Coffee, the offering here is quite straightforward: organic, seasonal goods curated for the people, by Peoples.

Provisions was born out of the vision to showcase the ingredients that Peoples uses in-house. It’s a shop front for their suppliers, bringing their products straight to the end consumer. Swing by and pick up a carton of the All Good oat milk that goes into your Peoples flat white, or the Fix & Fogg peanut butter and Esther’s Sauerkraut that accompanies their delectable toasts and sandwiches.

It’s not just about the food either. There are plenty of other goodies you can take home, all made in Aotearoa. Grab a few bars of Fair + Square soap while you’re here, and perhaps pack your day’s shopping in a tote bag hand-crafted by one of the Peoples staff. Whether it’s a snack or a small gift you walk away with, you can rest assured it’s a product proudly made on our shores, with suppliers hailing from Miramar, Petone, Upper Hutt, and further afield across the country.

One of Provisions’ main goals is to inject that famed Wellington hospitality and service to the grocery experience. The interior plays a big role in achieving this - beautifully polished wooden surfaces blend seamlessly into the coarse brick walls, imbuing the whole space with a warm sense of nourishment. Two sets of tables and chairs bookend the shop, and while you’re most welcome to sit down with a cuppa, the place is designed for customers to slowly peruse the teeming shelves. It’s an ostensibly cafe atmosphere, but with a whole lot of difference.

What started as a pop-up concept in Peoples’ cafes is now a fully fledged venture, helping forge a sense of community not just in Miramar but the wider Wellington region. After all, it’s all in the name, and Peoples has always been about bringing people together through great coffee and locally produced goods.
