It comes as no surprise that the people behind this much-loved eating establishment were the founders of Wellington stalwart Caffe L’affare. Tucked down Jessie Street, Prefab is not hard to miss – it’s a big, open industrial style space with loads of light pouring in through the abundance of windows.

Seating 180 people, with a variety of table types, an outdoor area and counter spots, it's a high paced environment brimming with regulars, office workers and the brunch catch-up. Coffee is roasted on site; it’s served black white – and the increasingly popular ‘bottomless’ filter. Bakery items are baked behind the long seated counter and branded under Acme Bread & Bakery. Food offerings are divided into breakfast, lunch and all-day menus, with an assortment of seasonal plates, sandwiches and daily fish together with their range of sweet savouries that continuously catch the eye.

There’s a reason this place is constantly ‘heaving’; the service is efficient and the food is fast, fresh and delicious. Simply put, this place is outstanding and looks set to become a longstanding Wellington favourite. It all stacks up really when you consider the hospitality geniuses behind Prefab.
