Owner/operator of fashion store Goodness Chris Hales admits she ‘is a bit of a magpie’ when it comes to picking out and putting together beautiful outfits, so no wonder walking into the bright, cheerful clothing store feels like being a kid in a candy shop. Starting out in Petone some 13 years ago, Goodness is no stranger to the Wellington fashion scene, and their more recent inner city store on College Street has enjoyed a very enthusiastic reception from city dwellers.

Chis is happy to support and sell fellow New Zealand designs like Noa Noa and Issac & Lulu, while also keeping an eye on what’s hot overseas too - Maison Scotch, Husk and LTB jeans all quick to jump off the shelves. A self-taught sewer who’s come a long way, she also designs her own clothing too, under the name The Goodness [label] which is catered towards the urban woman who wants to stand out, and is inspired by (as any smart designer will tell you) simply what Chris would want to wear herself.

All ages visit Goodness, and whether you’ve got a celebration to attend or need more work clothes to add to your wardrobe, this fashion store makes sure you can go from the office to the cocktail party and not have to change a thing. Stop by for accessories too, bags, shoes and jewellery all add to the same bight, playful style that Goodness encourages.
