When heading to the stunning North Canterbury wine-growing region of Waipara it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by choice, so let’s keep things nice and easy. Do you value sustainability as much as exemplary wine experiences, thoughtful hospitality and exceptionally curious cuisine? If the answer was, four times yes, then Greystones Wines is your ultimate destination.

Proud to be New Zealand’s most progressive wine producer, Greystone sets a new standard in winemaking by constantly pushing boundaries, challenging conventions and leading by example. It goes above and beyond when it comes to sustainable winemaking: it’s not just about sustainability here, it’s about enrichment, it’s about making sure the land thrives today and for generations to come. To put it simply, the winemakers at Greystone believe good wine doesn’t have to cost the earth.

The winery draws its name from the unique limestone conglomerate that is found as the bedrock of where the vine roots grow, resulting in some of the best wines made in Aotearoa New Zealand. To complement the wine experience, Greystone offers a culinary encounter to match. Its famous long lunch experience encompasses a four-course menu complete with amuse-bouche and wine pairings. The fortnightly changing menu caters for all dietary requirements and celebrates seasonal local ingredients with inventive flavour combinations. As much produce as possible is gathered from the winery’s farm garden, and even lambs are raised by hand on-site. It’s all part of Greystone’s relentless pursuit of discovery leading to products that are true reflections of the land.

The atmosphere at this ambitious winery is casually formal. Come dressed in your best or roll on in with your gummies and CCC shorts on, nobody is here to judge you. Guests can choose to be seated indoors, on the outdoor deck complete with heaters for the colder months, or along long communal tables or bean bags in the garden.

Greystone is committed to building a close-knit community of wine lovers who share its ethos, values and love for exemplary wine experiences. The winery would love to welcome you and yours!
