What once was an old apple-packing shed on the edge of the Moutere Inlet now functions as a workspace for a group of artists, complete with a gallery to showcase the fruit of their creative labour. Zappekin Artists & Allies is a co-op of seven resident creatives formed to create community for local artists, a space to come together and work in, exhibit and collaborate in.

When the Zappekin group took over the space, they put their mark on it by refreshing the interiors with appropriately white walls for gallery use along with a spot of colour and personality added by brightly painted windows. Inside you’ll get to admire anything from ceramic art to printmaking, illustration, handcrafted clothing, and sculpture art. Watch the artists at work and appreciate the care and time that goes into the various works created right here, and perhaps choose something special to take home as a memory of your visit to this special Nelson area spot.

The Zappekin space is ever evolving and the future will see markets, exhibitions, workshops and the like take place within these walls.
