Ōamaru’s one-and-only surf and skate shop, Soul Surf & Skate, is located in the heart of the town’s retail district on Thames Street. They are known for the very best and latest streetwear and have everything you need to indulge in surf and skate pursuits. There’s even a sneaky halfpipe located via a secret passageway, so make sure to seek this out when you visit.
Opening in 2003, Soul Surf & Skate has earned a stellar reputation around town over the years, and the staff here are incredibly knowledgeable. After all, owner Jeremy also runs the local surf programme, so if you’re new to the sport, they have you covered.
The vibes in the store are laidback and just what you would expect from a premium surf and skate shop. They stock iconic New Zealand streetwear labels such as Huffer, RPM and Federation, and with everything so nicely showcased on the racks, you’ll certainly be tempted to walk out with one or two new purchases.
Whether you are an Ōamaru local or travelling through town, a visit to Soul Surf & Skate is definitely worth your time, even if it’s just to marvel at the novelty of the hidden halfpipe!
