Whitireia Road, Tītahi Bay, Porirua

Fancy a walk somewhere that’s really going to blow off the cobwebs? Whitireia Park looks out over Porirua Harbour, and the stunning coastal views go hand in hand with some good old sea wind which is most likely just what the doctor ordered.

Look out to Mana Island and marvel at the beauty that is 180 hectares of grassland, right in front of your nose. Easy to navigate, Whitireia Park has plenty of car parks, and narrow roads wind around the whole area so you can cruise from one end to the other with no problems. Expect to see some fellow outdoor enthusiasts up here, biking, horse riding, fishing or walking, although there’s so much space it’s easy to feel like you’re the first person to discover this hidden headland gem.

Take a breather from the city and recentre yourself in this picturesque spot that has million-dollar views in every direction.
