2119 State Highway 8, Burkes Pass

Anyone who has ever driven along the legendary Route 66 will get an instant rush of déjà vu when pulling up beside the roadside wonderland of Three Creeks in Burkes Pass.  With various buildings, including a general store, a 1950s petrol station, a blacksmith shop and a trading store, there are eclectic collectables galore to discover.

Part museum, part second hand and vintage store, part coffee cart and real fruit ice cream trailer – there is so much to explore at Three Creeks. A selection of genuine and reproduction items are available for purchase, while some of the wonders play an important part in creating the unique feel of this spot and are here to stay.

Oh, and the owner of Three Creeks, craftsman Dave Taylor who moved to the area from Christchurch following the earthquakes, also produces an extensive range of handmade wooden furniture crafted from rimu, macrocarpa and pine.  Bar stools, outdoor seating, play houses, galley wagons, planter boxes and much more, are available for purchase.

Classic cars, old fuel pumps, old-fashioned farm machinery and vintage signage are found outside, plus plenty of spots to sit down and take in all the curiosities.

Next time you find yourself driving along State Highway 8, make sure to add time for a stop along the way at Burkes Pass. You never know, that special item you didn’t know you were looking for could be waiting for you right here.
