Operated by Luke Dawkins, this little garden bar is a true oasis for gin seeking enthusiasts. There’s around 80 different gins registered in New Zealand alone (now you know), not to mention the plethora from around the world too. Rather than serve it with a side of sad old lemon, Luke steps things up a level. Expect plenty of variations on colour, texture and flavour as boutique gins are mixed with fermented berries, lush tonics, rose petals and more.

This hole-in-the-wall spot has plenty of thrift shops to thank for it’s fun pink interior - rather than buy everything new Luke and friends decided the best look for a well-loved bar was decking it out in well-loved furniture and decorations. Thanks to a garden architect friend, the plant life here looks very very neat, and adds to the feeling that you’ve really stepped out of the busy city for a moment. The native tree at the entrance was excess from the old Revival bar which used to be housed next door, and gin gin. still keeps firm relationships with its Victoria Street neighbours.

Gin not your thing? Don’t feel left out. There’s an array of other spirits, wine and beers available - and hot gin punches for the colder months. Come evening time it’s low light, candles, mellow vibes and funky music. If all that gin drinking has you feeling hungry then take your pick from the small menu of tapas features, goat cheese served with flatbread, pizza, and light bite options.
