An ol’ English style pub, that oozes charm and character, Pomeroy’s welcoming environment is perfect for many an occasion and season. It’s one of those spots that can absolutely be described as a beloved Christchurch institution.

Opening their doors in 2001, this family-run establishment takes great pride in providing an inviting atmosphere and this starts as soon as you enter the red-brick building. Evoking cosy and kitsch pub vibes, from the plaid-adorned walls to the patterned carpet and dim lighting. Everywhere you turn inside Pomeroy’s there seems to be another little nook, fireplace or inviting leather couch to choose from. And even though there’s a large dining room and bar area, you best make sure to book ahead, as tables can be hard to come by given its popularity. On a glorious sunny day, the outdoor courtyard is pretty hard to beat and it is quite easy to wile away an afternoon out there.

Like any pub worth its weight in gold, the food menu at Pom’s is on point, with a number of tasty snacks to go with your pint. If you’re in for lunch or dinner, the selection of burgers and large plates will have you salivating, as well as the specials of the day, think the classics; fish, pies and roasts. Then of course, there are the all-important drinks, and Pom’s does not disappoint here. With an impressive range of brews on tap, whatever your preference is, from lager to IPA to stout, there’ll be something to captivate your palate. On top of that, they have an extensive wine and cocktail list, plus in the cooler months mulled wine might just make an appearance.

Summer or winter, sunshine or rain, family birthday lunch or date night for two, no matter when, no matter what, Pomeroy’s is always the right choice.
