Havelock North’s Lot 2 is a laid back, unpretentious eatery that starts each day as a café, before transforming into an intimate evening destination. Brought to us by the masterminds behind The Dosa Project and Colab Cafe, Lot 2 was named because it was the second lot in the building plans and being as catchy as it is, the name just stuck.

Lot 2 is based on the philosophy of wholesome and nutritious homely food. A number of the dishes are naturally gluten free and or vegan (or can easily be made that way) and the morning menu features all the classics, such as avocado on toast, eggs benedict and pancakes. Let’s not forget the cabinet which offers an abundance of sweet and savoury treats to nourish and comfort. The evening dishes are designed to share and offer plenty of clean, bold flavours.

Best sellers such as the Sri Lankan chicken curry and the prawn miang are all based on owner and chef Cliff’s Fernandes’ nostalgic food memories, his time spent working overseas and travelling to different countries. Like the food, the wine list is predominantly locally sourced and was carefully chosen to cover all the flavour bases.

The vision at Lot 2 is to provide an offering for patrons that will keep them coming back. It is set to be a space where memories are remembered and new memories are made. Between the well thought out space, warm hospitality and quality food and drink, this journey is one that is well under way. And in time, we may be lucky enough to see some theatrical elements added to the mix.
