A revered name in Wellington’s Turkish scene, Kilim is synonymous with quality, hearty kebabs done well, with its reputation extending far beyond the Hutt Valley.

For a smallish shop, Kilim delivers a fulsome dining experience from the spacious, ornate fitout through to the comprehensive menu. Place your order and make your way down the hallway to the secluded indoor patio, where the wooden panelling and pops of turquoise give the place the air of a chic cafe. There’s plenty to gawk at on the walls while you wait for your food, as the tapestries, small prints, jewellery, mirrors, and other knick-knacks evoke a real Turkish flavour.

The menu at Kilim is all about getting the basics right, so expect to see all your favourites here, hand-crafted to exquisite perfection. Whether it’s a classic doner kebab for a quick lunch on the go, a hearty iskender meal, or the unbeatable meat on fries combo for a guilty treat, there’s something to hit every Turkish craving. Wash it all down with a delicious Turkish coffee or apple tea, and finish off with Kilim’s famous baklava with walnuts and honey syrup.

Simple, filling, and irresistibly tasty, it’s no wonder Turkish remains an immensely popular cuisine wherever you go. And when you’re in Wellington, it’s hard to go past Kilim.
