Urban Oyster Bar & Eatery in Nelson celebrates bold and creative flavours.  Offering an approachable and relaxed setting to diners.  Sit alongside the kitchen and watch the chefs at work, and don’t be afraid to engage in conversation with them as Urban Oyster Bar has strived to create a space where diners feel comfortable engaging with the team, as well as with each other.

The stars of the show, as the eatery’s name suggests, are oysters. These are freshly shucked oysters that are accompanied by a variety of toppings and served on a bed of chilled pebbles. Other items on the menu centre around the ethos of small plates and big flavours. The chefs here have global experience and all contribute their creativity towards new dishes for the menu, which changes at least once a month.

The bar offers a number of craft beers and wine from all over the world, along with a selection of Champagne and a list of cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic options.

No more or less a bar than an eatery, Urban Oyster Bar & Eatery incorporates its dual identity seamlessly. One of the serving restaurants in Nelson, their kitchen stays open late for summer dining, though in winter things wind down a little earlier, so call ahead to make sure they’re open.
