40 Tasman St, The Wood, Nelson

You’ll find Bobby Franks in Nelson’s The Wood bustling with locals on any given day. It’s everything a neighbourhood café should be: homely, friendly, and just the right amount of cool. From dog walkers to young families, business meetings to friendly catch-ups, Bobby Franks is the kind of café where everyone comes together.

The character of the 150-year old villa is a huge part of what makes Bobby Franks what it is. While fittings are all modern, the floorboards and walls could tell a thousand stories. The café is filled with light streaming in from floor to ceiling windows, and if you look closely, you’ll find that the original top panes provide a quirky, slightly blurry view of the hills beyond.

Bobby Franks’ all-day brunch menu offers a number of café classics with a slight twist. Owner-operators Kiera and Marc Shaw wanted to create a menu that’s approachable, but encourages people to try something new. You won’t find the usual eggs benedict or pancakes here, but plenty of other delicious options are sure to delight those taste buds.

Coffee at Bobby Franks is brewed to perfection with Soul Arch beans, which are roasted by Marc himself. Bottomless filter and all your espresso-based favourites are available throughout the day. If you’d like to take a little piece of Bobby Franks home with you, you’ll be pleased to know that Soul Arch beans can be purchased at the counter.
