A celebration of South-East Asian street food and hawker markets, Hawker House brings the flavours and vibrancy of that part of the world to Nelson. True to its source of inspiration, the atmosphere at Hawker House is bustling. A small number of tables are available for booking, but the rest, in real hawker market fashion, are for walk-ins only.
Dishes here vary from bite-sized to full meals. They are created with ingredients that are close to 80% homegrown and self harvested, resulting in a true garden to plate experience. Hawker’s takes pride in making just about everything from scratch in-house (including sriracha and chilli sauce) and not cutting corners when it comes to developing dishes and choosing produce.
Watch the chefs at work with seating along the open kitchen, or park up by the bar and take in the making of creative cocktails.
As much a bar as a restaurant, Hawker House works just as well as a spot for grabbing a drink and a quick bite with a group of friends, as it does for a sit-down dinner with that special someone.
