At the top of a hill, on the cusp of the green Pukekara Park, sits Nice Hotel and Restaurant, an outstanding boutique hotel in the heart of New Plymouth. Built in 1870, New Plymouth’s oldest wooden building has been thoughtfully restored by owner and host Terry Parkes.

The central location of the Nice Hotel and Restaurant is perfect for visitors to this picturesque coastal city and best of all, it is slightly back from the main street creating a quieter aspect for your stay. The established coiffed gardens set the tone, and the interior embraces a sense of playfulness and fun. Owner, Terry, has been collecting eclectic pieces for years and has created an atmosphere that is bold and unique with opulent artworks, curios and furniture. A timely reminder for guests that they are away from the mundane banality of the day-to-day and willingly invites them to enjoy some holiday escapism.

The Nice Hotel and Restaurant ask everyone who walks in the door to make themselves at home in their 11 individually decorated guestrooms. Each has a plethora of services at your fingertips, including free wi-fi, Netflix on tap and plenty of good coffee. There is also the onsite restaurant, Table, and Lobby bar which are both worth sampling, idyllic spots to decompress after your day of exploring the sights of New Plymouth. If the weather permits, the outdoor courtyard is delightful for an alfresco meal too.
