If you’re wondering where Porirua locals go to get active, you best take a peek inside Te Rauparaha Arena. From kindy gym to HEHA (a healthy eating and exercise class for elderly persons) and gym workouts to swimming lessons, this is the space to come when you feel like moving your body. Not just exercised based however, the arena can also host lectures, business meetings, conferences, and even weddings.
Three indoor netball courts make this a popular place for school tournaments as well as national level games (the whole place fills up when the Pulse come here to compete), and when they’re not being used by our regional team, anyone can come here to practice shooting hoops. The upstairs gym is a clean and quiet place to come and pump out your reps, whether on your own or with the help of a personal trainer, while the downstairs group fit room has space for groups to get their heart rates up together.
Open seven days a week, the plethora of activities at Te Rauparaha Arena really do never seem to stop, and if the swimming, gyming, listening to lectures or watching sports games has you feeling hungry all of a sudden, then you’ll be pleased to hear the onsite café offers all sorts of nice kai too. A place where everyone can feel welcome no matter their fitness level, age or stage of life, this arena certainly feels like a community hub of activity that is only becoming more and more popular.
