On the top floor of the Old Post Office Building in downtown Geraldine lies an unconventional gallery space. Climb the creaky stairs to discover the Susan Badcock Gallery, where contemporary artworks by Susan herself and the wider creative Badcock family are showcased alongside other New Zealand artists.

The building was lovingly restored with respect to the past by Susan and her father, painter John Badcock before the gallery opened its doors in 2014.  The high ceilings and natural light pour in from large windows, creating the perfect backdrop for an intimate gallery experience. Wander through the various colourful rooms in the gallery and view a wide range of mediums from painting to hand-coloured photography and beyond.

The main room of the gallery functions as a rotating solo exhibition space, where local artists are invited to exhibit a larger selection of their works. Smaller rooms offer space to sit and relax while enjoying works of art or leafing through books on the resident artists.

Around the corner of the building, you’ll find the gallery gift store, The Mailroom. The light-filled space invites you to discover ceramics, jewellery, homewares and luxury accessories. The beautifully presented and carefully curated store is a pleasure to explore, just like the gallery itself.
