A deli gone glam, Wānaka's Fedeli speaks volumes about creating an aesthetically pleasing space and offering wholesome food and beverages done well. With a hearty ethos on locally producing, sourcing, creating and sharing food, it’s not surprising this small deli has quickly gained a loyal following. Sibling to the bigger café next door, Federal Diner, Fedeli concentrates on fresh food to go — without compromising on taste or quality.

White tiled walls, low hanging bulbs and a glass cabinet stacked with goodies give the deli a spacious, elegant charm, and upon entry you’ll quickly be greeted by the smiley staff in stripes. Chunky sandwiches, golden pastries and inventive salads are all on show and make food on the run an easy option. Chia seed puddings, fruit cups and sweet treats give hard workers an afternoon treat to look forward to, and with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options available, it’s a deli to suit every need.

High white shelves display beautiful and practical merchandise to take home, from ceramic ware, recipe-printed tea towels, tea by Storm & India and Fedeli’s own preserves. Happily championing other Wānaka people doing neat things, Fedeli also stocks local, organic, free-range eggs, relish by Taste of the Alps, handmade fine chocolates from The Chocolate Workshop and almond croissants from Pembroke Patisserie.

For a little hit of freshness, be sure to visit this cheerful deli down the alley.
