Comes and Goes is a brilliant addition to the Wellington café scene, bringing an explosion of edible flowers and culinary masterpieces that Wellingtonians are welcoming with open arms. Its clean, minimalist look and ‘gram-worthy’ menu have attracted clientele from all over the Wellington region.
The menu is simple and fresh with a variety of options that cater to all diets, including vegetarians and vegans. It boasts a multitude of sweet and savoury breakfast delights. All bases are covered, from light options such as Rosewater Yoghurt Panna Cotta Muesli to a heartier, more substantial meal of Cured Salmon Tartare. They also have a wide selection of drinks including 7 different types of tea. Highlights include the 'Nest', a literal nest made of shredded filo pastry, filled with crumbed eggs on a bed of greens, beetroot puree and feta cheese and the banana bacon waffles, complete with shards of white chocolate, charred banana, chocolate ‘soil’, seasonal and freeze-dried fruit drizzled with berry compote and maple syrup.
Make sure to head along early on the weekends or be prepared to wait - good news travels fast. Alongside their main menu, Comes and Goes also have an excellent array of cabinet food, convenient to grab and have on the go. From sweet treats such as their Bronuts (a clever hybrid of a brioche and a donut) to delicious savoury goods like Bacon and Egg Baps. Behind the counter, is a selection of locally made products to purchase. They stock Fix and Fogg Peanut butter, Daily Organics Kombucha and Rocket coffee.
The interior is Scandinavian inspired, being light, open plan and minimalistic. Customers can observe their food being made by the chef through a large circular opening which bridges the gap between the kitchen and the dining area.
The welcoming interior and delectable menu is a must try for anyone in and around Petone. Though it resides a little further out of CBD Wellington, we are certain that many will make the trip.
