Smack bang in the historic (and somewhat infamous) building alongside the city’s busiest pedestrian intersection, LUCKY gets plenty of foot traffic. Passers-by can go from seeking refuge from the Wellington weather, to chomping down on chicken, chips and gravy in mere minutes. LUCKY shares the building with Tommy Millions next door, but is destined to have its own following as it serves up some of the best fried chicken in town (be sure to order your burgers at the right window!)
Specifically a takeaway joint, there’s also a lean on bar if the burgers are too good not to start eating straight away. Proud supporters of sustainable, the food comes wrapped up in compostable packaging, so you can let the earth do the cleaning up after you. With a short and sharp menu, LUCKY makes choosing a whole lot less stressful, and flips the usual notion that takeaway joints must have endless options, completely on its head.
Keeping things simple, LUCKY takes its vibes from the West Coast skate scene, where doing your own thing comes with a hint of rebellion, and as the first of its type in the capital, LUCKY certainly feels a bit the same.
