Located on Wellington’s Cambridge Terrace is a high end barber shop catering to the capital’s most discerning clients. Whether you’re in need of a quick trim or a hot towel shave, the boys at Boar and Blade will have you looking your freshest in no time.
Taking its name from a story about former Māori All Black Captain and pig hunter Kiwi Blake (you’ll have to ask the guys for a full breakdown), the nondescript entrance is given away by the sound of hip hop and electric razors, and lighthearted banter greets you as you step inside. A mounted boar head takes centre stage, and intricately carved solid timber surrounds each of the large mirrors where clients take their seats.
They have an extensive range of services on offer as well as a selection of high quality hair care products including pomades, beard oils and more. It’s a small space made welcoming and bright thanks to a combination of gleaming subway tiles, plush leather upholstery and the brilliant personalities of the duo on the tools. The overall vibe is casual and professional, and one look at the Instagram feed proves that these guys definitely have the skills to back up their reputation.
There are 20+ available time slots each day and booking is a breeze with their online reservation system, so you’ll never have to wait around for a turn in the chair again. Every customer is cared for with a level of service that won’t go unnoticed, you’ll definitely want to go back.
