Perched at its grand position on a hillside at the end of Te Whakaraupō Lyttelton Harbour, the historical Ōtoromiro Hotel offers hard-to-beat views, friendly service and classic pub fare.

A true destination, this spot attracts the crowds throughout the summer and on sunny weekends yet is as much of a delight when visiting on quieter days. While the sun is out, the deck and extensive garden are where it’s at, and on colder days, the indoors offers cosy nooks to settle into, complete with a crackling fire to keep things toasty.

A stack of board games, super-sized chess table, jukebox, retro pinball machine, pool table and a basket of children's toys; there is plenty here to keep everyone in the family entertained. The menu, which sees slight seasonal adjustments throughout the year, also caters for a plethora of taste buds, including a special menu for your best four-legged friend. At the back of the pub, a petite shop provides locals with essentials and can supply you with all you need for an impromptu picnic down by the water or at one of the world-class gardens a stone's throw away.

Upstairs offers contemporary accommodation with shared facilities, with four rooms enjoying direct French-door access to the balcony and unrivalled views of the harbour. A perfect staycation spot for Ōtautahi locals or a wonderful close-to but out-of-the-city location for visitors. Guests can enjoy free access to a heated salt-water pool located in a private corner of the garden, as well as reap the benefits of the restaurant down below. The fully serviced pool area can be hired for private pool-parties or pre-dinner dips.

With plenty of room inside and out, Ōtoromiro Hotel is also a wonderful spot for private functions. Whether it’s a wedding, a corporate get-together or a special birthday, the hotel can tailor its offerings to suit your needs.
