The Rabbit is an exciting eatery in the heart of The Triangle in Ashburton. Look for the hidden pink doorway, which hints at a secret rabbit hole entrance, walk on in, and enter a space of muted luxury.
A sense of magic and discovery is in the air when stepping into this unique spot. Dark navy seating with touches of brass introduces a not-your-everyday cafe atmosphere. Plentiful greenery and elegant downlights add a further touch of comfortable opulence. The icing on the cake is uncovered when you look up and discover the ceiling painted into subtle cloud formations, revealing the true magic of The Rabbit.
No ordinary spot, this is an establishment that wears many hats. By day, it is a cafe with perfect private nooks complete with plugs and free wifi to settle into with a laptop. It’s also a pick-your-own sushi spot, convenient for quick, healthy grab-and-go bites or brief lunch breaks. It also boasts a large meeting room that can be booked for private use. This space is also used for workshops, such as cooking classes, for the community.
By night, The Rabbit becomes a dinner destination and a cocktail bar. The lights are dimmed, and the true feeling of a secret hideout flourishes. The dinner menu consists of made-to-order, premium sushi. Drinks are poured to perfection and presented beautifully every time.
What makes The Rabbit an experience is in all the little details that make it its own. There’s nothing quite like it in Ashburton or beyond, and it’s well worth discovering whether you’re just passing by or calling Mid Canterbury home.
