Students at Hamilton’s Wintec School of Media Arts don’t have far to go to see some of the latest and greatest contemporary art in the nation, and that’s because Ramp Gallery brings it right under their roof. Sharing a space with the School of Media Arts mean students get an up close look at what it takes to be a practicing contemporary artist in the NZ scene, and if that’s not inspiration enough to get you through your studies, we’re not sure what is. Happily hosting talks and events as well as their month long exhibitions, Ramp is a free platform for the wider community to engage with the arts too.
Not precious about being exclusive, the curators and managers of Ramp make sure all artists producing high quality work feel welcomed to exhibit art here, and having been around for 20+ years, Ramp is no stranger to what it takes to stand out in the gallery scene. Creating a space where students and non-students alike can come and engage in critical thought, this creative gallery fosters diverse cultural, multi-gendered and divergent world views to ensure they have the most engaging and all-encompassing gallery possible.
