You’ll find this yoga studio down Lovegrove Lane, a row of owner-operator businesses in East Hamilton. They teach Ashtanga yoga in the Mysore style, as well as Yin, Hatha and meditation sessions. Sun Salute is family-friendly, running a ‘Mums n Bubs’ class for mothers returning to yoga, with toys available for children, as well as a children’s session to encourage strength, flexibility and balance from a young age. The studio is a peaceful space with natural wood walls, a fernery, and a communal area with comfy sofas and shelves of books - all arranged with an air of quiet thoughtfulness.
With a belief in the holistic power of yoga for daily health, they encourage self-study, breath regulation, reading and ‘complete rest’, as regular elements of yoga practice, and also regularly host a number of visiting teachers, including the highly acclaimed Ashtanga teacher, Peter Sanson, based in Hawke's Bay.
The yoga centre also comprises a consultation room where you can book an acupuncturist, physiotherapist, or massage therapist. Teaching beginners level classes right through to advanced, Sun Salute is a holistic health hub, with a warm environment and conscientious service. They even offer rōngoa and waiata classes during the school term. Check their website for session times.
