Giant Brewing in Havelock North is the perfect place to gather with a group of mates, celebrate a family occasion, or simply enjoy some excellent local beers.

What started as a humble side project some years ago has grown into a fully-fledged brewery and pub. The vision for the space was to create somewhere where everyone feels welcome and where there are regulars aplenty. Whether it’s after-work drinks or coming to watch the All Blacks play, creating a community feel is evidently a priority at Giant. From the long sharing tables to being able to see into the kitchen and watch the chefs at work, the atmosphere is open and friendly.

When it comes to the beer itself, owner Chris describes himself as a beer geek, and so when choosing what kinds of beers to brew, he wants to make sure there’s something for every taste on tap. Giant likes to share the love around, so about half the taps in the pub are rotating guest beers from other New Zealand independent brewers. Given the Hawke’s Bay location, there are many local wines available too.

On the food front, Giant has partnered with Gina's to deliver a menu of tacos, burgers, salads and bites. It's generous pub grub, but taken up a notch or ten! The kids are covered with a menu just for them, and if you have a sweet tooth to satisfy, there is the even popular Duck Island ice cream.

What could be better than an expertly brewed pint of local beer, tasty food and a cracking atmosphere? You'll find it all here at Giant Brewing.
