In true Untouched World style, the Wanaka branch of the fashion brand with a non-negotiable stance on sustainability and ethics is nothing short of spectacular. The first and only fashion company in the world to be recognised by the United Nations for sustainability, Untouched World gets things right from the get-go. From sustainably grown fibres, to shoes made with wool from non-mulesed sheep, to GOTS certified organic dyes and water based prints, each and every bit of clothing here is designed to have as little impact on the planet’s resources as possible.
Where possible, all the garments in the collection are made in Christchurch, and if things have to be sourced overseas (organic cotton t-shirts for example), Untouched World only works with suppliers who share in their values and provide good working conditions for their employees. The one of a kind kite jewellery is made from scrap precious metal and turned into beautiful bespoke pieces by a local Christchurch goldsmith and are not to be found anywhere else. Maybe you were after some bamboo glasses, or a goat hair mitt? Laurel soap or aromatherapy candles? Untouched World is more than clothing, and you can rest assured knowing anything you purchase here has had some serious homework done on it before it makes its way into the shop.
Warm, cosy garments, or light summery pieces, Untouched World isn’t afraid to introduce a burst of colour to its customers wardrobes, and as they settle in to their new Wanaka home they’ll soon be making the most of their wool growing neighbours and making their material sourcing even more local.
